What is CheaperCover.com?

CheaperCover.com, is a revolutionary new insurance comparison website. We put insurance under the hammer by giving insurance providers the chance to quote, and potentially to enter an online reverse auction to win customers’ business.

Like most comparison websites we collect pertinent customer information and use this data to search across a wide range of automated quotations from our many partners. Once these automated quotations are returned (normally within 2 minutes) and subject to the type of insurance required,  the customer has the option of entering our unique reverse auction which takes place over a 2 hour window. (based on working hours Mon -Fri 9-5)

This allows those providers, who have already returned an automated quotation, the chance to make an improved offer along with a range of new providers as described below.

When we first looked at this service we found that comparison websites used a similar but fairly small group of providers. Actually there are more than 2,000 insurance brokers in the UK and, as an example, well over 200 different car insurance products. In the case of many of these brokers, technology and budgetary demands may have precluded them from joining comparison websites in the past. However they still have very competitive offers and services often unique to them. The good news is they can now take part on CheaperCover.com.

Customers benefit in two ways, firstly the providers may now be fighting for their business in an auction environment, and secondly our service opens up a whole new set of providers who would not normally be seen on comparison websites. These providers may be local groups, specialist players or larger groups who do not have all of the typical requirements demanded by other comparison websites. Some of these also have additional products not widely available that can be provided as optional extras for customers.

Who is CheaperCover.com and how do we make money?

We are not an insurance company or broker, but a dedicated team of insurance professionals backed by the Fortis Group, the multi-billion pound financial services company. Whilst CheaperCover.com is within the Fortis family of firms we do not prioritise Fortis brands over any others in the market when producing quotes for our customers. On standard business, we give all of our providers the chance to quote with the initial results listing in ascending price order. Our insurance providers whose sites we access, have agreed to pay us for each sale they make through CheaperCover.com. This fee is payable to CheaperCover.com and is not added to the premium.
